Heifer International’s content management system (CMS) is used to manage content across our site. This system is created for non-technical users to easily create, edit and delete content without having to know HTML or wait for a developer to make changes. With the help of this guide, employees at Heifer will be able to make changes in a quick and timely manner.

To sign into the CMS, you must first obtain credentials from the Digital Production Manager, Mitchell Katayama. If you do not have a user account, please contact him at
Mitchell.Katayama@heifer.org.
Once your account has been created, sign in on the CMS landing page using your Heifer email address and the password that was provided. When signing in for the first time, you will be asked to create a new password for your account.
Passwords must abide by the following rules:
The system will prompt you to change your passwords every 90 days.
Note: The ‘Forgot Password’ button is currently not working. Please email Mitchell.Katayama@heifer.org to update your password if you are unable to sign in.

Once you successfully sign in, the CMS Dashboard will appear. From here you are able to access different parts of the CMS and can begin to create and edit content.
On the left-hand side of the screen there are a number of icons that can be used to access different sections of the CMS.
Note: Depending on your account permissions, you may not be able to see all of these icons from your dashboard.

The column on the left-hand side displays the navigation to all of the pages found on our site. Each page is located within a folder and, once a page is selected, content for that page will be displayed.

Search for the URL or the name of the content you are looking for.

This button will take you to the Create Content page.

This portion of the page is divided into four columns, Content Name, Status, Navigation and Copy/Unpublish.
Content Name
The URL for the page will be displayed in this first column.
Status
This column displays if the page is active or unpublished on the site.

Navigation
Selecting ‘Edit Details’ in the third column will cause the Manage Navigation pop up window to appear.
Show in Navigation
This is where you will determine if your page will show in the navigation at the top of the page. If you select yes, a ‘Navigation Text’ field will appear. This is where you will put the text that will show in the top navigation.
Show in Footer Navigation
In this dropdown menu, you will select whether or not your page will show in the navigation at the bottom of the page in the footer.
Navigation Text
This is what the link will be named when displayed on the site.
Copy/Unpublish
In the last column, selecting the ‘Copy’ button will go to the Create Content page where you can begin duplicating the content. Selecting the ‘Unpublish’ button will allow you to unpublish or delete the page. Unpublishing a page will remove it from the live site while still keeping it in the CMS.
Warning: Once a page is deleted, it can’t be recovered.
