If you do not wish to create a new page from scratch, you may choose to copy an existing page on the site and edit it to fit your needs. Copying a page includes taking the existing structure, images and copy, then creating a brand-new page with the same information. We will walk through how to select and copy an existing page and will then discuss how to edit content on your new page.

After logging into the CMS, select the content icon in the first column to the left. In the picture above, this icon is highlighted in a green color. Selecting this icon opens the Content Management page.
To learn more about the function of the Dashboard landing page, visit our Overview section.

Content Directory
The column on the left-hand side displays the navigation to all of the pages found on our site. Each page is located within a folder and, once a page is selected, content for that page will be displayed.
Pages can be found in the folder by using their URL. For example, the volunteer sign-up page has the URL /what-you-can-do/get-involved/volunteer/index.html. This means that the page can be found by opening the What You Can Do folder, selecting Get Involved, then opening the Volunteer folder and selecting the Index page.
Selecting ‘Content List’ or ‘Reset Root Directory’ at the top of the column will bring you back to the main Content Management page.

After selecting the Copy Icon on the Edit Content page, you will be directed to the Create Content page shown above. On this page. you will rename your new content page and select the folder that it will live in. This is how the URL will be determined.
In this section, you will select what folder your page will be located in. This field is only for the folder, we will set up the name of the page in one of the fields below.

Create a title for your page. This is the title that will appear in the CMS and in the URL bar once the page is published.

To get a better idea of where your text will be displayed, refer to the image above. When creating the Our Work page, it was determined that this page would appear in the navigation. This means that the name of the page shows up in the blue bar between the site navigation and the header image. Your page will be displayed in a similar manner if you choose to show it in the navigation.

In this section, you will select whether or not your page will show in the navigation at the bottom of the page in the footer.
Here’s another example of where your page name will be if you choose to display it. The Our Work page was chosen to be displayed in the footer, and now the name appears in the dark brown bar on top of the site footer.
Note: The navigation that you create for this page will only be displayed on the page you create. It will not be displayed throughout the entire site.
Create a description for your page. This enhances your page’s search engine optimization, giving it a better chance of appearing in search results.

After completing the Create Content page, the next step will be to fill out the Edit Content form. On this page, you will be able to build the structure and add images and copy to the page.
