YOUR GIFT IS MAKING a LASTING IMPACT in HONDURAS!
When you gave a gift months ago, you may not have realized just how great an impact your gift would have. When you give through Heifer International, your gift is more than just a cow or honeybees — it’s the ability to create a future where the family thrives.
From the family whose lives you changed and from all of us at Heifer — THANK YOU.
For farmers who work with Heifer, the gift you gave allows them to look to the future.
While it may seem like the journey of your gift is coming to an end, your impact will continue to unfold for generations to come. The family who received your gift promised to pass on the first female offspring and share their newfound knowledge with another family in the community — continuing the cycle of change you set in motion.
Years from now, you might not remember the gift you gave. But the family in Honduras who received your gift will never forget the person who changed their lives.

Ariel’s Story of Success, All Because Of You
Ariel’s family is a part of the Leveraging Success project in Honduras where your gift went.
- Ariel started caring for his family’s cattle at only 9 years old. The fourth of seven children, Ariel grew up in a one-room wood board house with a dirt floor with no electricity or running water.
- The Leveraging Success project was the turning point for his family. Heifer taught Ariel how to best care for his livestock and make money on his farm.
- While the family had practiced agriculture for years, their farm wasn’t profitable. Heifer’s training changed everything. Ariel learned about basic veterinary practices, animal reproduction, bookkeeping and milk production costs, increasing the animals on their farm and their health. With training came the benefits — nutrition, fertilizer and hope!
- The lessons Ariel learned extend far beyond the herd. Now, he uses his knowledge to better his family and community. And it’s all thanks to a gift like yours.
- Ariel is passing his love of farming to his daughter, Samata. At 7 years old, she already knows she wants to be a veterinarian.
About the Leveraging Success Project
TIMELINE 2017–2024
WHERE Olancho, Choluteca, Santa Bárbara, Copán and Lempira, Honduras
OUR GOAL In Olancho, a family of five needs an annual income of about $4,400 USD for basic needs — but the average income is only about $2,350 USD. Our goal is to help families reduce this gap.

The Leveraging Success project helps close the income gap in Honduras by helping farmers and business owners. Local experts give honey, coffee and dairy farmers support to boost their yields, teaching them environmentally friendly techniques that deliver high-quality products – generating future demand for those same products and setting off a cycle of success.
Accessible markets are essential for closing the living income gap and making sure that producers can continue to sell their products once their time in the project has ended. Connecting honey producers with restaurants and food suppliers generates demand and long-term income opportunities.
